Posted March 09, 2020 09:02:25A new mother in Australia has spoken of her excitement and surprise after giving birth to a baby boy, despite being told it would not be the best experience for her.
The woman, who has not been named, gave birth at a hospital in Adelaide last month, despite having been warned by doctors that her baby would not survive.
“It was a shock, to be honest,” she said.
“The doctors told us they would be able to feed him but he wouldn’t survive and it would be an issue for the baby.”
Ms Jones said she was overwhelmed with excitement and disbelief at the baby’s arrival.
“He’s a normal, healthy baby,” she told ABC News.
“I’m a mum of two, and it was just such a blessing that he was born healthy.”
If we had known that it would have been going to be difficult for him, then I would have definitely stopped and we would not have had the baby today.
“Ms Johnson said she had a positive attitude and was confident that she was “the man” for breastfeeding.”
When you give birth you want to give a good start to the baby, and I’m doing that and I think it’s great that he’s getting some support from a lot of other women, because it’s really important,” she added.”
And I’m just so glad that I can be there for him.”ABC/wiresTopics:mothers,breast-feeding,pregnancy-and-childbirth,birth,adelaide-5000,sa,australiaMore stories from South Australia
