CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte police say a man who they say assaulted his wife in the house with a samurai sword has been arrested.
Police say the man was arrested Tuesday morning after an investigation into a domestic violence incident.
The Charlotte Observer reports officers responded to the home in the 1200 block of East State Street around 4:30 p.m. on a report of a man with a sword in the hallway.
Police found the man lying on the floor with cuts to his face and hands, according to the Charlotte Observer.
He had a knife lying around his neck.
The man had no identification and told officers he didn’t know the woman and her family, according the Charlotte Police Department.
The victim told police she left the home after the man left and went to her sister’s house in a neighboring neighborhood.
The man told police he and his wife were arguing over her finances and the man began cutting her.
The woman then grabbed a kitchen knife, and she used it to stab him several times, according an arrest report.
The woman told officers she was afraid for her life and called 911.
The suspect told police when he arrived at the home he found his wife, who was sitting on the bed.
She told police that she stabbed him multiple times in the face, neck, arm and leg.
She said he was conscious when she grabbed the knife and the knife fell to the floor.
The suspect was taken to a local hospital.
The man was charged with aggravated domestic battery, aggravated assault and armed criminal action.
