The Predators’ season was a bit of a mess this year, but Justin Faulks made things a little easier by giving them some of their best games of the year.
The Predators went 3-1-1 during the regular season, but that didn’t seem to be enough to get them out of the second round of the playoffs.
That’s what Faulks did in Game 6 of the Western Conference finals, where the Predators beat the Anaheim Ducks 3-2 in overtime.
The Predators, though, were not done.
They would go on to defeat the Chicago Blackhawks in the second-round series to advance to the Stanley Cup Final.
“The playoffs are about the best team you can have,” Faulks said.
“If you have that team that can get in a playoff series, it’s like an MVP.
We just couldn’t do it.”
That game was the Predators’ best.
The first goal was the tying goal, and the second one was a quick-strike goal.
Faulks was not the only one on the ice with the Predators that night.
They were also playing without their top scorer, Filip Forsberg.
Forsberg, who was suspended for the first six games of this postseason, was out again this postseason after a concussion he suffered in the third period of Game 5 against the Nashville Predators.
He has been out since that game.
The team will have to make a decision on Forsberg’s availability on Friday, but it seems likely that he will not return.
It also seems likely the Predators will be looking for someone to fill the void left by Forsberg, though the team may not have a clear answer yet.
“If I was Justin Faulkos and I said I was going to go out there and play the playoffs, I wouldn’t be able to,” Faulk said.
“It’s not a secret, it just takes time and patience.”
Forsks, who had just 23 goals in 82 games this season, had one goal and two assists in six playoff games this postseason.
Faulk is looking for more in this series.
“I’m excited about playing a playoff game.
We’re not done, we’re not even halfway there yet,” he said.
