Browns first coast news team has compiled a map of the reported rapes and sexual assaults in California this year.
The map shows that while there were 624 reported rapes in the state in January, the number of reported rapes fell to 705 last month, the latest month for which data is available.
California has reported more than 4,500 reported rapes, with a rape victim who is under 18 making up over 60 percent of those reports.
The report shows the state had 1,000 reported rapes last year, but that number was actually 1,079.
California is the first state in the country to report the number and types of rapes.
The first rape of a victim under 18 occurred in California in May, when a 15-year-old girl was raped in the park of Santa Cruz.
A 14-year old girl was attacked by a man who was also under the age of 18 and the man, who was later convicted, is serving a life sentence in prison.
The 14- and 15-years-old victims were both assaulted in Santa Cruz, and the 17-year olds victim was sexually assaulted in a bar in San Diego.
California was also the first place in the world to report sexual assaults on college campuses.
There were 2,873 reported sexual assaults reported on college and university campuses in 2017, with an estimated 1,900 students assaulted.
The most recent report of sexual assaults occurred in February, when an 18-yearold student was sexually harassed and assaulted in his car in the parking lot of the University of California, Santa Barbara.
A 22-year -old student in San Francisco was also assaulted in the city by a 24-year –old man who also had a criminal record.
