A Maine man is being held on $5 million bail after police say he raped two women while they were asleep in their beds.
Deputies responded to a call at about 9:40 p.m. on Saturday about a woman in the bedroom of a home in the 4500 block of East Highway 16 in the town of Eppley, Maine, said Lt.
Steve Mowry of the Eppleys police department.
Mowsey said officers found a man naked, with his hands tied behind his back and in the front yard.
They also found the victim and another woman inside a bedroom, both unconscious, with their mouths open and both “tied down,” Moway said.
The man was later identified as 31-year-old David Pyle.
Pyle was charged with two counts of first-degree rape and two counts each of kidnapping and burglary.
He was being held at the EPPLEY jail on $25,000 bail.
The Maine State Police said they were still investigating whether Pyle’s actions were related to the rape.
“We want to find out if there’s any reason why someone would go into the bedroom and rape someone asleep,” Mowsay said, adding that the woman’s condition was not immediately available.
The woman had been asleep for about three hours when she woke up and told officers that Pyle had raped her, he said.
According to the criminal complaint, Pyle has two prior arrests in Maine for sexual assault and kidnapping.
He had been in custody since January 2013, the complaint said.
